Unexpected Mission trip to the dump

We (okay, Misa) had been asked to be a translator for a team of Missionaries that were coming in to do some building ministry through the Spanish Babtist church here in PV.

We didn't know what it entailed but Misa agreed to do it. They told us just to show up at the church on Sunday at 2pm.

We ended up all going out to the "Mision Pan de Vive" at the city dump and then being split off into 6 groups to go to individuals homes there in the dump that needed some specific attention.

We been out to the dump about 6 times and it never is pleasent smelling but today it was especially putrid! The heavy rains had mingled the free standing sewer and run off from garbage piles into the dirt streets and made the mud seem like raw poop! We all tried to tiptoe around as to not get covered in the aweful muck.

Some of the people that live there don't seem that bad off but then there are the other's that live in little tiny rooms made of garbage more or less.

We went to a man's home and Misa translated for the team as to his needs. He needs the rest of his roof put up. Luckily all but one of his children are grown and moved out but still they need proper place to live.

It turned out to be a very interesting day for sure! Not what we had planned or envisioned.

God is good:)
