Today we recovered from our Sunday adventure. What a day (or 2 days) it turned out to be.
It started at 8am in the morning when Misa got a phone call from a guy that he has been working with and trying to minister to. He wanted to know if we would take his mom to the emergency room because they didn't have money for an ambulance and she was in too much pain to ride the bus. Misa wanted me to go with him so we got up and ran out the door. We jump in the van and start driving when we realized we had a completely flat tire!
We found a neighbor that was awake and asked if they could pull their car out so that we could use their cigarette lighter (ours don't work) to put air in the tire.
We were able to make it to the hospital in time. The lady looked to be in great pain. (not sure exactly what was wrong as they didn't want us to wait for them.)
We then went and got gas (propane) for our stove as we had been without for almost a week! We went home and cooked eggs! It was wonderful to have a good meal again! We had been getting by with cold foods (not advised here in Mexico!).
After that we read our bibles and prayed (because now we had missed church!). We swung by the church to say Hi and then Misa got a call that someone wanted to buy the truck that we left in Coloradas (aka: Reforma Agraria). SO...we made a bunch of tacos, packed some food in the coolers and drove in the single cab diesel out there. It turned out that the truck had some problems (that are covered under warranty here in PV). So we left the other white truck for Misa's cousin to try to sell for us and left in the red one back to PV.
We needed to get back that night because Misa had an appointment in the morning for a painting job. At around 1:00AM right outside of a little town called Zacualpan the truck broke down. IT was pouring down rain, dark and not very comfortable with all 6 of us in the truck!
Valerie and I finally fell to sleep in the truck. Naomi slept off and on and Misa, Crystal and Mariah sat on a little porch of a restaurant and talked and goofed off.
Nobody would stop!! People are very scared to stop in the middle of the night for a car broken down (I don't blame them). But we felt God's protection as usual and we werent' afraid.
Finally, Misa decided he would call the guy that we took his mother to the hospital that morning. He of course woke him up and Misa asked him if he could get the keys for our van and come out first thing in the morning. The guy said NO, he was coming right now!! So 2 hours later he came out with jumper cables but they could not get the truck started. So Misa decided around 6 AM that it would be best if the guy drove us (me and the girls) back to PV and Misa waited until a mechanic shop opened (around 10Am) to get help.
The drive back was SO SCARRY!! It poured so hard that you could not see the road. The roads are very narrow and there we landslides the whole way! We kept dodging giant boulders and falling dirt that you couldn't see until you were almost in the middle of it! Lane closures around corners made for a very scarry drive because the oncoming traffic couldn's see the oncoming traffic in his lane!
God was good though and got us here safe and sound around 8:30 in the morning on Monday.
