The Difference in Evangelizing to Locals vs. Tourists..

What a day! We each loaded up fanny packs full of tracts. We took 150 tracts in Spanish and only 50 in English.

First we passed out the 100 of the Spanish tracts that had a big clock on the front and printed in big letters "THESE MIGHT BE YOUR LAST FIVE MINUTES OF LIFE". These went over very well! People would huddle and start reading them and it really got their attention enough to open it and read the inside.

Misa always stayed behind us a little ways so that he could hear the comments and see people's reaction when they read them. They would say things like "Ah, man I don't want to think about that!" Misa would then say to them it's good for you, it's food for thought. Then they would open it and start reading and talking about it. (We actually caught a guy off guard reading a dirty magazine! He took it and sort of looked a little sheepish!)

Another lady was sitting outside and refused to look at me and I was standing right in front of her. She would not take the tract nor would she talk to me. She then mumbled that she didn't want any of our garbage. Some of the old ladies seemed to want us to come in and sit with them in their house.

The fist 100 went very quick within 20 mins! Then we had the Virgin Mary ones...I was dreading handing those out but Misa said we needed to share the truth. He's right we can't be afraid of the TRUTH! It just so happened though that we were 1 block down from the Catholic church when we began handing these out.

The women that we handed these ones to would just stand there and look at each and stop to read the front of it? We didn't see anyone throwing it away. It appeared that the women thought that they were about to read something Catholic because it has a picture of Mary on the front of it. We all felt something very peculiar when we started passing these ones out. The spirit was different. Not sure if it was because of the streets and the area that we were in or the tract it self. We only brought 50 but they too went quick.

After these were gone we headed down to the Gringo area. What a shocker!! We only had 50 of these and thought that they would go quick but we couldn't get anyone to take them!! The resistance and the spirit of pride was so strong! It took us only about 30 mins to pass out the 150 Spanish tracts and about 45 mins to get rid of the 50 English ones (we had some that we saved from the garbage cans on our way back).

We walk a lot here in PV and it doesn't make you tired but today we were exhausted. This was spiritually draining.
